Following the arrest of the environmental activist known as Sahar Kazemi in early August, her husband and mother were also summoned and arrested by Sanandaj Intelligence headquarters and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj on Thursday, November 15.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Sahar Kazemi’s husband known as Madeh Fathi and her mother, Mahvash Amiri were arrested yesterday on Nov 15 after being summoned by the headquarters of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office and subsequently transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Facility in Sanandaj.

Despite the arrest of Sahar Kazemi’s husband and mother made in early November, Sanandaj Intelligence Office has announced the possibility of releasing Sahar Kazemi in the coming weeks.

It is worth mentioning that Madeh Fathi was previously arrested by security forces in November last year and was released from the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Facility in the City of Sanandaj after three months of interrogation. Mahvash Amiri, her mother, has also been summoned by the security agencies several times over the last few years and she was even imprisoned for several months last year.

On Thursday, Aug 9, 2018, Sanandaj security forces raided the house of Sahar Kazemi in Sanandaj and arrested this activist while inspecting the house and seizing some of her personal belongings before transferring her to the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Sanandaj. After being interrogated, she was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison and is still in imprisonment due to the refusal of the Sanandaj Prosecutor’s Office to grant permission regarding her release.
