On Sunday, November 29, a Kurdish civilian of Sanandaj Vali Ghalvazi was arrested by security agents at his home.

“On the evening of Sunday, November 29, my father noticed the large presence of security forces around the house and their attempt to break down the door when he returned home from work. After introducing himself to these forces, he was arrested without any court warrant and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre, ” Shiva Ghalvazi, the civilian’s daughter, told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“He is suffering from acute respiratory allergies but he was transferred to the detention centre without having medication, so the family is very concerned about his health.” Shiva Ghalvazi added.

“My father was not involved in any political or civil activities, and the reason for his arrest remains unclear,” she concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Sheida Rahimi, a civil activist and the wife of this Kurdish civilian, was arrested by the Sanandaj Intelligence Service in May 1995 and was released on 300 million Tomans bail after 18 days. The civil activist was sentenced in July 2015 to six years in prison in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, presided over by Judge Saeedi, on charges of “acting against national security.” She and her three children are currently living in a European country due to pressure from security agencies.
