Prominent labour activists Mahmoud Salehi and Osman Esmaeili, who were summoned last week to Branch 3 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Saqqez, have been arrested after appearing in court and have been sent to the city’s prison.

Reportedly, after they were informed that they were being accused of “propaganda against the state”, the investigator issued a bail of 40 million Iranian Tomans – nearly 1,600 USD – for their release. However, the activists have opposed the accusation.

Publication of photos and videos related to International Workers’ Day on social media networks has been given as the reason for the arrest of the labour activists.
