Iran detained another Kurdish civilian in Baneh, in the scope of the recent mass arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists in the northwestern Kurdistan province.

Security forces arrested Zagros Rashidi on 17 November and took him to an undisclosed location.

Security forces had also arrested Rashidi’s father on the first day of the arrest wave on 11 November.

The Ministry of Intelligence has launched a new wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists began on 11 November, detaining at least 32 people in Baneh, Saqez, Marivan, and Sanandaj in Kurdistan province.

In recent days, several activists detained in Baneh managed to make short telephone calls and inform their families of their detention in the detention facilities of the intelligence ministry in Baneh and Sanandaj.

Reportedly, the wave of summons and detentions began with new appointments to the administration of the Ministry of Intelligence in the province.

Due to the atmosphere of terror created by the detention of Kurdish civilians in the villages of Choman, Namshir, Najneh, and Kupich in Baneh, some civilians have fled their homes for fear of being detained en masse by security forces.
