Iranian intelligence ministry arrested five Kurdish civilians in Sanandaj and its Niyar village in Kurdistan province on 14 November and transferred them to the province’s central detention facility in the city.

The detentions are a part of the recently launched wave of summons and arrests of Kurdish civilians and activists across the north-western Kurdistan province.

The province’s General Directorate of the Ministry of Intelligence currently holds at least 31 Kurdish civilians and activists in detention, whom it has detained in Baneh, Saqqez, Marivan, and Sanandaj since the launch of the wave of arrests on 11 November.

On 14 November, security forces detained four Kurdish civilians named Zanyar Menbari, Milad Menbari, Arash Menbari, and Sivan Menbari in the village of Niyar without an arrest warrant.

The forces also searched their houses and confiscated some of their personal belongings.

Simultaneously, security forces arrested a civilian named Aram Moradian after Branch 2 of the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office summoned him.

The security forces previously detained him on 27 April. After 130 days in detention, he was temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison on a bail of 250 million Iranian Tomans – approximately 10,000 USD.

At least 31 Kurds still in detention

Statistics compiled by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) show that Iran has detained at least 33 Kurdish civilians and activists since 11 November, from which 31 remain in custody.

In this period, the office of the intelligence ministry in Saqqez summoned three civilians named Jamal Azizi, Saman Khosravi, and Ayoub Minaei from Pir Omran village.
