Iranian security forces have arrested a Kurdish civil rights activist named Kiumars Latifi during a raid on his house in Sanandaj, Iran’s northwestern province of Kurdistan, on 15 February.

Reportedly, the activist was beaten and taken to an undisclosed location.

Simultaneously, security forces also searched the house of the activist’s sister, Arezou Latifi.

She fainted and was taken to the hospital due to the psychological pressures caused by the raid on her house.

Latifi is a civil rights activist and a former member of the Mowlavi Association in Sanandaj. He has been active in teaching the Kurdish language.

He had previously been arrested by security forces in 2019.
