Iranian security forces arrested two civilians identified as Ashkan Jamshidi and Madeh Moradi in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, in the past week. They took the civilians to an undisclosed location.

Jamshidi, who studies architectural engineering at Yazdan-Panah College in Sanandaj, was arrested on 28 August.

Meanwhile, Moradi was taken into custody on 2 September. He comes from the Sar Huyeh village of Sanandaj.

So far, there is no information about the reason for the arrest and the whereabouts of these two civilians.

In the past few years, the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) summoned and arrested Moradi several times. In the latest case on 14 January 2020, security forces broke into his house in Sar Huyeh and arrested him.

He was then released on bail after being held for two months in a security detention centre in Sanandaj.

According to statistics collected by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), throughout August, Iranian security forces detained at least 41 civilians and activists on political charges in various cities across Iranian Kurdistan.
