In the past few days, the Border Regiment of Nosoud and Sardasht have stormed and killed dozens of the horses and mules belonging to Kolbars.
“On Saturday, Dec 9, 2017, forces of the Precautionary Border Regiment stopped the caravan of the kolbars in a region called Sarcham Shini on its way to the border and at least twenty Mules belonging to Kolbars were shot dead,” A Kurdish Kolbar in Nosoud told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
“The kolbars were in their way to the border but they were not carrying any cargo. During the past several years, the border guards have killed hundreds of horses and mules of the kolbars, even when the horse and mules were not carrying any cargo.” The source said.
“On Saturday night, Dec 9, the Border regiments in Alan area of Sardasht ambushed a caravan of kolbars and killed their horses after seizing their cargo,” another Kolbar told KHRN in Sardasht.
“After killing these horses, the border troops have attached the carcasses to their car (Toyota) and drove off so that the carcasses were torn apart completely.”, the Kolbar said
In some of the Kurdish mountainous borders, where kolbars uses horses and mules instead of carrying cargo on their shoulders (Kol) Reports indicate that the Regiment border forces shoot and kill the Kolbar’s horses and mules after capturing them.
