Iranian border guards have killed a Kurdish Kolbar in the recent days in the border area of Hangezhal Baneh.

The 34-year-old Hashem Hassani, who was shot by border guards, was a kolbar from Baneh.

An eyewitness in Baneh confirmed the news to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) and said, “At 12 noon on Sunday, 3 February, a group of kolbars were on their way in the border area of Hangezhal in Baneh. They were shot without warning by the border guards from a distance of several meters, as a result of which Hashem Hassani was killed.”

According to the source, a bullet hit the Hassani in the pelvis, leading to his death due to the severity of his injuries, after being taken to the hospital of Baneh.

The source added, “Hashem Hassani, from the village of Manjilan of Baneh, was the father of a 2- year-old child and had previously worked in a car repair shop. He became a kolbar about six months ago because of unemployment.”

According to statistics gathered by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, in 2020, a total of 52 kolbars were either killed by military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran or lost their lives due to natural disasters and lack of security in the routes taken by kolbars. Another 147 kolbars have been injured in this period.
