A group of Kurdish political prisoners in prisons in Orumiyeh, Khoy, Tabriz and Kashmar published a statement in which they declared their solidarity with Leyla Guven, the detained co-chair of the Democratic Society Party in Turkey, and 91 other political prisoners in Turkish prisons.

They have called for the deployment of international inspectors and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture to the prison of Imrali Island and demanded them to examine the health status of Abdullah Ocalan, the leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that 17 political prisoners detained in different prisons – Zainab Jalalian in Khoy Prison, Ali Ahmad Soleiman and Yousef Kakhemmi in Tabriz Central Prison, Hamid Rahimi, Ali Yeganeh, Touraj Ismaili, Mohammad Khaledzadeh, Rahim Mahmoudi, Ebrahim Issipour, Kamran Darvishi, Ahmad Tamui, Kamran Jafari, Bashir Pirmavanah, Kamal Hassan Ramadan, Hassan Hassanzadeh, Mustafa Sabzi in Orumiyeh Central Prison and Shakir Baghi in Kashmar Prison – issued a statement today and announced that today, on Saturday, January 05, they will go on a one-day symbolic hunger strike in solidarity with the strike of MP Leyla Guven and other political prisoners in Turkish prisons.

Leyla Guven began a hunger strike 58 days ago in protest to the two-year suspension of prison visit of the detained leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Abdullah Ocalan, with his family and lawyers.

In solidarity with Leyla Guven and 91 other detainees in Turkish prisons, Kurdish political prisoners in various prisons of Iran demanded the international inspectors and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture(CPT) to visit the Imrali Prison to investigate the health conditions of Abdullah Ocalan.
