Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has obtained information that four women prisoners -Mohabbat Mahmoudi, Fatemeh Mirabi, Simin Seidi, and Donya Piri- who have been infected with the Coronavirus in recent days, are still being held in one of the Women’s Ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison without medical attention.

KHRN announced news of the second wave of Coronavirus in the Women’s Ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison yesterday. According to this news, Mohabbat Mahmoudi and another prisoner spent a week in solitary confinement after contracting the virus and being transferred to the prison clinic but they were returned to the General Ward again.

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 in Iran, human rights organizations have warned Iranian authorities about the health and condition of prisoners in prisons. Orumiyeh Central Prison is one of the prisons in the country where many cases of the Covid-19 have been reported.

Based on KHRN knowledge, a prisoner ‘Fatemeh Alizadeh’ in the women’s ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison lost her life due to the Coronavirus in April.
