Imprisoned athlete Parham Parvari was transferred to the Greater Tehran Central Penitentiary with the end of his interrogation at Evin Prison on 4 January.

Security forces arrested Parvari, 25, during the anti-government protests in Tehran on 3 October 2022 and took him to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence at Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

Security forces severely tortured him at the time of arrest, the signs of which are still visible on his body, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

The young man was also pressured and threatened during interrogation to make forced confessions.

The Security Prosecutor’s Office, located in Evin Prison, has accused Parvari of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) for participating in anti-government protests.

He is originally from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan province and resides in Tehran.
