“Hajar Saeedi, a Women’s Rights activist in Sanandaj, was arrested on Sunday, June 07.”, an informed source in Sanandaj confirmed the news to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network(KHRN) while saying that security agents had detained Saeedi in her home without a warrant and transferred her to an unknown location. It is noteworthy that Ms Saeedi was caring for her sick child.
The reason for the arrest of this activist has not been determined yet but she was reportedly summoned and interrogated by the Intelligence Bureau on the eve of International Workers’ Day earlier in May this year. She was also arrested on charges of “disrupting public order” in September 2016 along with a number of other Sanandaj activists for holding a memorial service for Sharif Bajur and other environmental activists who died in a fire in one of the forests of Marivan.
