Security forces detained a teachers’ union activist named Shahriar Naderi in Kermanshah, western Iran, on 23 June and took him to an undisclosed location.

Naderi, who is a teacher that comes from Paveh in Kermanshah province, and is a resident of Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, had been living in exile in Kermanshah since 2016 due to his union activities.

Security forces had also detained two other members of the teachers’ union, Sadegh Kanaani and Aram Ebrahimi, in Sanandaj on 22 June and taken them to an undisclosed location.

In the past week alone, at least 39 teachers’ union activists were arrested in the cities of Saqqez, Divandarreh, Marivan, Sanandaj, and Kermanshah. Of these, 23 activists are still held in detention.

The identities of the activists detained in various cities are as below:

Sanandaj: Sadegh Kanaani, Aram Ebrahimi, Reza Tahmasbi, Behzad Ghavami, Mohammad Reza Moradi, Salah Haji-Mirzaei, and Ghias Nemati

Saqqez: Soleiman Abdi, Taher Hamedi, Ahmad Ghaderi, Amanj Amini, Esmaeil Reyhani, Khaled Abdollahi, Zahed Moradi, Hassan Rahimian, Hesam Khakpour, and Mohsen Shokouhi

Divandarreh: Omid Shah-Mohammadi, Hiva Ghoreishi, Parviz Ahsani, and Kaveh Mohammadzadeh
