Iran has released six Kurdish prisoners of conscience after the announcement of a pardon by the judiciary amnesty commission.

Prisoners Mostafa Sabzi, Akbar Rashidi, Aslan Shiri, Farshad Tamarzadeh, Rizgar Yousef Mavali, and Rahim Hassan Molaei were released in the evening of 15 April, under the amnesty.

Mostafa Sabzi was sentenced to 15 years in prison on the accusation of membership in a Kurdish opposition party, and Akbar Rashidi was accused of membership in a religious group and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The details of the cases of the other four prisoners of conscience are not known.

Earlier this week, Kurdish political prisoner Omar Faghihpour was released from Orumiyeh Central Prison after serving more than 20 years in prison and being granted amnesty by the judiciary.
