The fate of the detained Kurdish civilian Sharif Khabat, who was arrested a week ago in Baneh in Kurdistan province, remains unknown.

On 12 October, security forces arrested Khabat and took him to an undisclosed location.

Previously, security forces had also detained the civilian on 23 August 2020.

He was then released on a bail of 100 million Iranian Tomans – nearly 4,000 USD – after 20 days in detention.

Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Saqqez, Kurdistan province, a few months later, sentenced Khabat to eight months in prison.

The court charged him with “acting against national security” through “membership in the Democratic Party of the Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI)”.

Khabar comes from the Shui village of Baneh in Kurdistan province.
