A Kurdish civilian named Sina Minaei was imprisoned in Naqadeh prison in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province on 9 August to serve three years.

On 31 July, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh in West Azerbaijan province, presided over by Judge Mehdi Rezaei, sentenced Minaei to three years in jail and three years of suspended imprisonment.

The court charged the Kurdish civilian with “acting against national security” through membership of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI).

On 2 November 2021, security forces arrested Minaei along with another Kurdish civilian named Abdollah Yousefi in Oshnavieh and took them to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.

On 19 December 2021, he was temporarily released on a bail of 300 million Iranian Tomans – approximately 10,000 USD – after his interrogation period ended.

Minaei comes from the Sujeh village of Oshnavieh.
