Kamal Lotfi, the detained father of one of the victims of the recent anti-government protests in Dehgolan, Kurdistan province, was transferred in recent days from the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj to Kamyaran Prison.

Lotfi’s son, Reza Lotfi, was killed by special forces during the protests in Dehgolan on 19 September 2022.

The father has been denied access to a lawyer since his arrest in Dehgolan on 16 April.

There is no information on the charges brought against him.

After their son was killed, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened and pressured the family to give a television interview blaming the Kurdish opposition for killing their son.

As the pressure continued, the father released a video in which he announced that his son had been shot dead by the military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
