At least nine prisoners convicted on drug, murder and armed robbery charges were executed today in Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah, Kermanshah Province, and Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz Province.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that prisoner Farhad Aghaei, 32, from the village of Badrabad in Ravansar, Kermanshah Province, who was sentenced to death for “premeditated murder”, was executed this morning in Dizel Abad Prison.
At the same time, at least eight prisoners who had been transferred to solitary confinement on 7 November were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
The names of two of the executed prisoners were Rasoul Teymouri and Bahman Fathollahi, but there is no information about the other six.
Teymouri, 52, from Kuhdasht in Lorestan Province, was arrested in 2015 on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
Fathollahi, from Tehran’s Khazaneh district, was arrested on similar charges about four years ago and subsequently sentenced to death.
Additionally, KHRN has learned that the executions of Hossein Havasi and another prisoner, who were also taken to solitary cells for execution in Ghezel Hesar Prison, have been halted and the two have been returned to the first section of the prison.
