Prisoners Mojtaba Amiri, Manouchehr Barzgar, Sirous Heidari, Khaled Rouhi and Kamal Elhami have been executed over the past two days in Karaj, Alborz Province, and Sanandaj and Saqqez, Kurdistan Province.

Amiri and Barzgar were executed on 5 December on charges of “drug trafficking” after being transferred to solitary confinement for execution with two other prisoners in Karaj Central Prison the day before.

The identities and fate of the other two prisoners remain unknown.

Amiri, a 42-year-old father of two from Harsin, Kermanshah Province, was arrested and sentenced to death on charges of ‘drug trafficking’ about five years ago, and Barzgar, 40, also from Harsin, was arrested on the same charges nearly four years ago.

In addition, prisoners Heidari and Rouhi were executed today in Sanandaj Central Prison for “premeditated murder”, while Elhami was also executed today in Saqqez Prison for “rape”.

Heidari and Rouhi were transferred to solitary confinement for execution on 4 December.

According to a source familiar with the case, Heidari, also known as Sirous the Panther, a 60-year-old civilian from Sanandaj with mental disabilities, was arrested in 2011 on charges of “premeditated murder” and sentenced to death.

Shortly after his arrest, Heidari was paraded through the streets of Sanandaj on the orders of the city’s prosecutor, in violation of the principle of human dignity, the source added.

Rouhi, from the village of Cham-e Su in Sanandaj, was arrested about four years ago on charges of “premeditated murder”.

In addition, Elhami, a 43-year-old from Saqqez, was arrested about five years ago and sentenced to death for “rape”.
