Iranian border guards fired at close range and without warning at a group of kolbars in the border area of Nowsud, Kermanshah Province, on 20 January, killing kolbar Sadegh Mirzaei and wounding two others.
The body of the 39-year-old Mirzaei, from Javanrud in Kermanshah Province, was taken to a medical centre in Nowsud, and the identities of the two wounded kolbars remain unknown.
Additionally, a video circulated on social media on 20 January, showing Iraqi border forces beating and detaining eight kolbars at the Nowsud-Biara border.
The Iraqi border forces confiscated the mobile phones of the kolbars and also shaved their heads.
