Faryad Ghaderi, a former political prisoner who was arrested on 10 March in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, is currently being held in temporary detention in the quarantine ward of Sanandaj Central Prison without access to legal representation or family visits.

Ghaderi, who was arrested after being summoned to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, revealed his situation during a recent short telephone call, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.

Ghaderi’s family visited the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Sanandaj, where they were informed that he would remain in temporary detention due to his “continued political activities” and that he would not be allowed visits while in quarantine in Sanandaj Central Prison.

KHRN has also learned that Ghaderi’s bank accounts were frozen at the end of last summer on the orders of the security services.

Prior to this, the Intelligence Organisation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) arrested Ghaderi, from the village of Kulich in Sarvabad, Kurdistan Province, on 3 October 2019 and interrogated him for four months in a high-security detention facility in Sanandaj.

After the interrogation period, he was taken to Sanandaj prison and released on bail in May 2020.
