Iranian authorities today executed four prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz Province, on charges related to drug offenses and “premeditated murder”.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that the executed individuals were Foroud Geravand, Mohammad Gholami, Esmaeil Sharafi, and Shahab Maleki.

Geravand, 50, from Kuhdasht in Lorestan Province, was arrested in 2015 and charged with drug offenses and the “premeditated murder” of a government official.

Gholami and Sharafi, both from Kuhdasht, and Maleki, 38, from Harsin in Kermanshah Province, were arrested several years ago in a joint case related to drug offenses.

The executions were carried out as a group along with several other prisoners whose identities remain unknown.
