Fardin Rostamnezhad, a young kolbar from the village of Shamshir in Paveh, Kermanshah Province, passed away on 20 September after 18 months of suffering from a spinal cord injury caused by gunfire from Iranian border guards, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
Rostamnezhad had been paralysed since 27 February 2023 after being shot in the abdomen by Iranian border forces while transporting goods across the Kolabar border area in Nowsud, Kermanshah Provine.
The KHRN has learned that the young kolbar, who lived in poverty with his daughter, died of his injuries on 20 September.
Rostamnezhad’s two brothers, Farshad and Kouhsar Rostamnezhad, have also been injured by border guards’ gunfire in recent years while working as kolbars in the same border area.
