Kurdistan Human Rights Network has been informed that Hamed Meshkat, a Turkish civilian and Sunni activist, was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison after about 4 months in detention.

Hamed Meshkat was arrested on August 25 by security agents affiliated with the Ministry of Intelligence at his family home in Orumiyeh. The security agents arrested the Sunni activist without a court order and while exerting violence in addition to taking a number of his personal belongings including his mobile phone and laptop. Hamed Meshkat’s mother is also said to have been beaten by the forces during her detention due to protesting and resisting her son’s detention.
