Security forces detained three teachers in Divandarreh, Kurdistan province, on 26 July, during a protest rally of teachers’ union activists and the families of arrested teachers.
The three teachers identified as Mohyeddin Karimian, Kourosh Baba-Moradi, and Asaad Alavi were arrested before the Ministry of Education in Divandarreh. They were taken to an undisclosed location.
Security forces and the police took strict security measures in the street leading to the ministry after the Kurdistan-Divandarreh Teachers’ Union had called for a demonstration to protest against the continued detention of four teachers’ union activists named Omid Shah-Mohammadi, Hiva Ghoreishi, Kaveh Mohammadzadeh, and Parviz Ahsani.
A group of teachers and the families of the four arrested teachers were verbally abused by the police forces on the way to the ministry’s building and were not allowed to hold the protest rally.
Also, some teachers who met with the head of the Ministry of Education were beaten by the police forces when they left the building.
Shah-Mohammadi, Ahsani, Mohammadzadeh, and Ghoreishi, are still held in the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province.
They are denied the right to have a lawyer or receive family visits.
Security forces arrested these teachers on 15 June during a protest rally of teachers in front of the Ministry of Education in Sanandaj.
