Security forces detained Kamal Lotfi, the father of one of the victims of the recent anti-government protests in Dehgolan, Kurdistan province, on 16 April and took him to an undisclosed location.

The detained civilian’s son, Reza Lotfi, 19, was killed by special forces on 19 September 2022 during the protests in Dehgolan.

After their son was killed, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened and pressured the family to blame Kurdish opposition parties for the death of their son in a TV interview.

As the pressures continued, the father released a video announcing that his son had been shot dead by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s military forces.
