Iranian security forces raided the family home of Houman Abdollahi, one of the victims of the recent anti-government protests in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, on 17 May and beat his family members.

Security forces also arrested eight labour activists who were visiting the victim’s family.

The detained activists are Hajar Saeidi, Habibollah Karimi, Shadman Abdi, Kamal Karimi, Abdollah Kheir-Abadi, Eghbal Pishkari, Khabat Mahmoudi and Sirvan Mahmoudi.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned that dozens of officers from the Ministry of Intelligence raided the house minutes after the activists arrived.

The officers disrespected the family and guests and beat Farshid Abdollahi, Houman Abdollahi’s father.

The detained activists were taken to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj.

Houman Abdollahi, 21, was shot by military-security forces during the anti-government protests in the Hassanabad neighbourhood of Sanandaj and died hours later at Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj from the severity of his injuries.
