Branch One of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, arrested the Kurdish karateka Arman Menbari after summoning him on 21 May.
Menbari’s fate remains unknown, as there is no information as to where he was taken.
Security forces previously arrested the athlete in Sanandaj on 31 January and took him to the intelligence ministry’s detention centre in the city.
He was released after a month on bail of 30 billion Iranian rials – nearly 60,000 USD.
According to statistics compiled by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), security forces arrested at least 36 civilians and activists on political charges in the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah and Ilam in the first three weeks of May.
One of the detainees was sent to Kermanshah Central Prison to serve his prison sentence, but the fate of 23 others who remain in detention is unknown.
