Despite the consistent enquiries made by the family of the environmental activist, Kaveh Babamoradi, during the past three months, there is still no news about his fate.

According to Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), this civil activist (who is a member of the Chia Sabz Community in Sanandaj) is one of the many Kurdish environmental activists who have been recently. He was arrested by security forces at his home on June 20 and was transferred to an unknown location.

Despite the frequent enquiries of his family, no information has been received about the cause of his detention and whereabouts.

Over the past few months, IRGC forces have detained five Kurdish environmental activists in the cities of Paveh, Marivan and Sanandaj. One off these known as Erfan Rashidi, a famous Kermanshah environmental activist, was arrested by security forces in Paveh on July 12, 2018 and was released on bail after eight days. But 4 other detained environmental activists including Kaveh Babamaradi, Sahar Kazemi, Muslim Sobhani and Arman Ghafouri, who were arrested in Marivan and Sanandaj, are still in detention.

Among these detainees, only Sahar Kazemi has been able to call her family and inform them about her location and status. She has stated that she was being interrogated at the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Sanandaj.
