Iran executed prisoners Oruj Ali Asl-Hosseini and Babak Aslani on the morning of 18 July in Orumiyeh Central Prison. The two prisoners were sentenced to “retribution in kind” (qisas) for “premeditated murder”.

Also, Meysam Sadeghi, who was taken to solitary confinement together with the two prisoners for execution, was returned to the ward after his parents were given a deadline to pay the blood money.

On 16 July, prison authorities had transferred the prisoners from ward 2-1 of the prison to solitary confinement.

After their transfer to solitary confinement, some ward inmates set blankets on fire and fought with prison guards.
