Prisoners Milad Jajouyi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kohlan were executed earlier this morning in Orumiyeh Central Prison, in north-western Iran.
The two prisoners were previously sentenced to death on charges of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) due to an armed robbery that resulted in murder.
On 12 February, they were transferred to solitary confinement for execution.
In September 2018, the two prisoners were arrested along with another civilian, Milad Ghaffarzadeh Gharagheshlaghi.
The three civilians were accused of committing “armed robbery resulting in murder” in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.
In April 2019, the Branch Two of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh sentenced them to death on the charge of “enmity against God” (moharebeh).
The Supreme Court later overturned Milad Ghaffarzadeh Qaragheshlaghi’s death sentence, commuting it to imprisonment, but upheld the death sentences of Milad Jajouyi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kohlan.
