Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): A Kurdish civilian, “Danial Darab Khani” who was arrested in Kermanshah in March 2017 following a nationwide protest in December, has been sentenced to one year in prison for “acting against national security.”

KHRN obtained that, the trial of this civilian was held last November in Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary court of Kermanshah chaired by Judge Shahrokh Moradi. The Public Prosecutor of Kermanshah argued that the punishment should have been harsher and contested that the matter should be referred to the Court of Appeal.

Danial Darab Khani, a Kurdish citizen from Kermanshah, was arrested by the security forces of Kermanshah Intelligence Office on March 9, 2018, and he was transferred to the Dizelabad Prison after 28 days of interrogation at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre. After several months of uncertainty, he was transferred to the branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Kermanshah on Oct 23, 2018 and he was released on a bail of 150 million Tomans after the hearing.

It is worth mentioning that dozens of protester were arrested by security forces in the above-mentioned protest in Kermanshah. They were kept under torture for weeks and months at security and intelligence police detachments in Kermanshah. Some of them were subsequently tried in court for allegedly “Acting against national security“.
