Iranian border guards opened fire on a group of kolbars in the Malateh border area in Baneh, Kurdistan province, on 23 July, severely injuring two brothers.
The wounded brothers, whose names are Saadollah Younesi and Ali Younesi, were taken to Salahuddin Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh.
Saadollah Younesi died in the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Ali Younesi’s health condition is also reported to be critical.
The two kolbar brothers, who come from the village of Geleh Sureh in Baneh, were shot from a close distance and without prior warning.
According to the statistics collected by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), in June, at least 13 kolbars were injured by Iranian border forces.
