The Branch 4 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Kermanshah, western Iran, sentenced Kurdish political activist Rahim Azizi to four months in prison on charges of “acting against national security” for allegedly supporting and propagating in favour of a Kurdish opposition party.

Azizi was arrested on 5 December during the recent anti-government protests in Javanrud, Kermanshah province, when security forces raided his brother’s and father’s house in the village of Biashush in Javanrud.

He was later released on bail after spending ten days in a solitary cell in the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence in Kermanshah.

The activist was tried without a lawyer at the Branch 4 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Kermanshah on 17 January.
