A student from Oshnavieh (Shno in Kurdish), who was arrested in April of last year, was released from the Orumiyeh Central Prison after serving his sentence.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Ali Arasteh was released from Orumiyeh Central Prison on Monday, Dec 3, 2018 after serving 18 months in prison. He was deprived of the right to leave and conditional release during his term.

Ali Arasteh, a law student at Payame Noor University in Oshnavieh who was from the village of Khoresth, was arrested in May 2017 at the Payame Noor University by security forces and was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison from the ministry of Intelligence Detention Bureau on July 12. Last August, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison by branch one of Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court chaired by Judge Chabak on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish parties.
