“A Kurdish civilian from the village of Ney, Marivan County, Kurdistan Province, named Peshtiwan Afsar, was arrested after being summoned to the Revolutionary Court of this city and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve his five-year sentence.”, reliable sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Peshtiwan Afsar was arrested by the Intelligence Unit of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) during the protest in the city of Marivan on November 19 last year and was transferred to the Shahramfar Detention Center in Sanandaj. After a month of interrogation at this security detention centre, he was released on a 400 million Tomans bail. 

In late December last year, He was sentenced to 9 years in prison by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj on charges of “membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.” The sentence was commuted to five years in prison upon his appeal to the Court of Appeal.
