Iran has released three prisoners named Jafar Esmaeili, Saeid Armat, and Osman Sahraei from Orumiyeh Central Prison on 28 March, after 32 years of imprisonment.

The three prisoners were arrested on 5 July 1989 and were sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder”.

They were accused of killing two civilians from the village of Mavana in the Targavar rural district of Iran’s northwestern Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.

On 14 March, the three prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement for execution, but their death sentences were overturned after the families of the victims consented to their pardon.
