Iran: Kurdish political prisoner ends hunger strike after 39 days

Kurdish political prisoner Ghader Mohammadzadeh has ended his 39-day-long hunger strike in Yazd Prison on 8 September after authorities promised to follow up on his demands. Mohammadzadeh went on a hunger strike on 31 July to protest against the Mahabad Public Prosecutor’s refusal to grant him temporary leave. Statement on assassinations of Mousa Babakhani and Behrouz Rahimi

Iran: Prisoner executed over ‘premeditated murder’

Iran has executed a prisoner named Afshar Minaei this morning in Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah. A court had sentenced Minaei to the death penalty in a “retribution in kind” (qesas) punishment on charges of “premeditated murder”. Security forces had arrested this resident of the Shamshir village of Paveh, Kermanshah province, in 2016 over “premeditated murder”.
