Security forces have arrested a Kurdish civil rights activist named Iraj Rahimzadeh during a raid on his house in Marivan, Iran’s northwestern Kurdistan province, on 28 May, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

The reason for the activist’s arrest and whereabouts are unknown.

Security forces had previously arrested Rahimzadeh in Marivan on 18 February 2019. He was then released on bail after several weeks of interrogation.

In 2020, Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, Kurdistan province, sentenced the activist to three months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state”.
