Prisoners Milad Jajavi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kahlan who were previously sentenced to death on charges of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) through armed robbery, were transferred to solitary confinement at Orumiyeh Central Prison on 12 February for execution.
Prison authorities announced that their death sentences would be executed on the morning of 13 February.
In September 2018, the two prisoners were arrested along with another civilian, Milad Ghaffarzadeh Gharagheshlaghi, on charges of “armed robbery resulting in murder” in Orumiyeh, West Azerbaijan province.
Later, the Branch Two of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh sentenced them to death on the charge of “enmity against God” (moharebeh).
The Supreme Court overturned Milad Ghaffarzadeh Qaragheshlaghi’s death sentence, commuting it to imprisonment, but upheld the death sentences of Milad Jajavi Khanik and Mohammad Ali Akhtari Kahlan.
