Death row prisoners Saadollah Farrokhi, Vahid Beyzaei and Amir Ali Bayromi were transferred yesterday to solitary cells at Orumiyeh Central Prison for execution.
The civilians were sentenced to death under the Islamic law of qisas or retribution-in-kind, which grants the right to retaliate to the victim’s family.
Prison authorities told the prisoners that their death sentences would be executed in the following days if they did not obtain the consent of the families of the victims, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
