Iran executed today prisoners Saadollah Farrokhi, Vahid Beyzaei and Amir Ali Bayromi at Orumiyeh Central Prison, in West Azerbaijan province, over murder-related offences.

These civilians were sentenced to death under the Islamic law of qisas or retribution-in-kind, which grants the right to retaliate to the victim’s family.

On 19 February, the prisoners were transferred to solitary cells at Orumiyeh Central Prison for execution.

On 16 February, prisoners Hassan Teyran and Nojoumi Moradi were also executed over similar charges in the prison of Orumiyeh.

According to statistics compiled by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) at least seven prisoners have been executed at Orumiyeh Central Prison over the past two weeks.
