Iranian border guards killed two kolbars identified as Karim Asemani and Bahaoddin Ahmadpour in the border areas of Baneh, Kurdistan province, in the past two days.

Asemani was shot and killed at the Hangeh-ye Zhal border area of Baneh on 21 September.

The 47-year-old kolbar was the father of six children and came from the Najneh-ye Olya village in Baneh.

On 20 September, Border Guard forces targeted a group of kolbars from a close range and without prior warning, killing the 33-year-old Ahmadpour.

He was from the village of Hajji Abdol in the Sarshiv district of Saqqez, Kurdistan province.

According to the statistics collected by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), Iranian border forces killed at least 10 kolbars and injured 26 others in the border areas of Baneh in the past two months.

Also, three kolbars were severely injured due to the explosion of landmines while working as kolbars in the border areas of the city.

During a visit to Baneh border posts in August, the commander of Iran’s border forces Ahmad Ali Godarzi said: “Baneh borders from Haftash to Barvishkani will be closed in the next two months and we have ordered that no one should cross the border without permission of the border guards. If anyone violates the law, they will be treated harshly.”
