The Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh has sentenced Kurdish civilian Farshad Fattahi to three years in prison, sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).


Fattahi, who comes from Orumiyeh, was convicted for his alleged “membership in Salafi groups” by Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh – presided over by Judge Sheikhlou.


The civilian was arrested by the security forces in Orumiyeh on 24 September 2020 and was taken to the detention centre of the city’s intelligence office. He was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison when his interrogation period ended on 27 October, and is currently being held in a ward for political and religious prisoners.
