Civilian Aryan Kokhaei went on a hunger strike by sewing up his lips in Ilam Central Prison, in western Iran, on 14 February, protesting against the uncertainty about his situation and the failure of judicial authorities to take any action regarding his case.
The Branch Three of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Ilam filed a lawsuit against Kokhaei, accusing him of “forming a criminal group”, “destruction and show of power with firearms” and “disrupting public order”, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has learned.
In December 2022, the Criminal Court of Ilam fined the civilian on charges of “insulting sanctities” in another case.
Kokhaei, 19, was arrested by security forces in Ilam on 29 November 2022 and taken to a security detention centre in the city.
After initial interrogations, he was transferred to the temporary detention facility of Ilam Central Prison.
