On Sunday evening, a young woman in Baneh ended her life by hanging herself.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, on Sunday evening, Aug 27, 2017, an 18-year-old single woman called “Delsouz Salimi” (daughter of Osman) ended her life by hanging herself in her house in Baneh.

According to the family, she suffered from thalassemia and she had told her family earlier that she could not bear being ill anymore. However, the main cause of her suicide has not been clearly specified so far.

The remarkable increase in suicide rate and other problems in Kurdistan has led to a wave of worry among people. Only in the recent three months, 30 people between the age of 17-35 have committed suicide.
