Arrest

Fereshteh Hosseini was arrested by security forces in Bukan on 24 August 2022.

After 18 days, on 11 September, she was temporarily released from Orumiyeh Central Prison on bail of one billion rials.

Judicial Process

In February 2023, Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Bukan sentenced Hosseini to eight months of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state”.

Current Status

On 11 December 2023, following a summons to the Enforcement of Judgments Office of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Bukan, she was arrested and taken to Orumiyeh Central Prison to serve her eight-month sentence.

Hosseini has not been granted the right to furlough or conditional release so far.

1. Article 500 of the Islamic Penal Code: “Anyone who engages in propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic of Iran or in favour of groups and organisations opposing the state, in any manner, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period of three months to one year.”
