Mojgan Kavoosi, Kurdish writer and cultural activist of Kelardasht, was arrested on 18 November by the Intelligence unit of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) at her home in Noshahr of Mazandaran Province, local sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Kavoosi has been arrested for writing about mass protests in the recent Iranian and Kurdish cities against skyrocketing petrol prices in the country.

Kavoosi was able to make a brief phone call to her family after a week of detention, a member of her family confirmed on her Instagram account.
