Iranian border guards have shot and killed a Kurdish kolbar named Zabet Alkhani in the border areas of Salmas, West Azerbaijan province, at midnight of 15 May.
A relative of the kolbar spoke to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) and said, “Last night at midnight, on 15 May, a group of Kurdish kolbars near the village of Agh Barzeh in Salmas, while heading towards the border, have become the target of the shootings of the security forces of the military outpost in the village, without any prior warning. As a result, a kolbar named Zabet Alkhani has been killed on the spot.”
According to the source, Zabet Alkhani was 46 years old, father of three, and a resident of Agh Barzeh village. He was shot by border guards while carrying cigarettes.
The kolbar’s body has been transferred to the department of forensic medicine in Orumiyeh and has not been delivered to his family yet.
